No matter where you are in your coming out journey (which is life-long, by the way) remember that shame thrives in darkness.
As soon as the secret is let out and exposed to the light, the burden lightens.
Yet, not all contexts are safe, so don’t judge yourself harshly for prioritizing your safety – find at least one other person to share with.
And as Oscar Wilde said, “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken”.
